Here you will find our reviews of the best scientific calculators out there. A lot of these calculators won’t be enough for classes above algebra 1. But if you’re not currently in school and don’t plan on doing super heavy calculations these are probably just right. Even if you are in school and taking a higher level math class, you may not want to totally overlook these because some of them can do things that most graphing calculators can’t.
Texas Instruments Calculator Reviews
TI-30Xa >>
The TI-30Xa is the most simple scientific calculator that Texas instruments makes. It is the only calculator on this list that uses only a classic display. This makes it great for simplicity and less confusing for lower level math students but if you plan on doing more advanced calculations, this calculator can be pretty hard to use.
TI-30X IIS >>
The TI-30X IIS takes you back to just the basics. This calculator has all of the basic scientific calculator functions and not much more. It is perfect for a student who has not entered any type of algebra classes and does not need any of the any of the complex features of, graphing calculators, and some other scientific calculators.
TI-34 MultiView >>
The TI-34 MultiView would probably be just as easy to use as any other scientific calculator, but it offers more advanced features than a basic scientific calculator. The 4 line display with MATHPRINT makes reading and entering your expressions much easier than on a traditional calculator.
TI-30XS MultiView >>
The TI-30XS MultiView is probably our overall favorite scientific calculator. This calculator is very easy to use for a beginner, but can also perform many more advanced calculations and functions. This calculator has a 4 line display with a good amount of pixels which makes reading the numbers, letters and fraction templates very easy.
TI-36X Pro >>
This calculator looks very similar to the TI-30XS MultiView, but it is more capable and has many more features. If we were to summarize, we would say that this calculator is a dumbed down graphing calculator, without a graph. It has many advanced features that you may find on a graphing calculator like, a polynomial and, an equations system solver. But it does lack graphing and some other features that a graphing calculator would include.
Casio Calculator Reviews
Casio fx-115ES PLUS >>
The Casio fx-115ES PLUS is a scientific calculator that is great for lower level math students, or for at home use. But it also has some features that allow it to be able to dabble in more advanced math subjects. This Calculator will be easy to pick up on the usability side for anyone who is new to the calculator, especially if they have used Casio calculators in the past. The 115ES PLUS has features that we really love to see on any scientific calculator as well as some extra things that we didn’t expect.
Casio ClassWiz fx-991EX >>
The ClassWiz from Casio is another scientific calculator that does way more than the basic functions of a scientific calculator. The high-resolution LCD display prints expressions in the format that you might find in a textbook and the answers are almost always given as exact numbers. Under the menu section of the calculator, you will find 12 different apps for things like polynomials, statistics, matrices, and even an app for spreadsheets. Casio has gone above and beyond with this calculator all while keeping the price well under $20.
Sharp Calculator Reviews
Sharp EL-W516TBSL >>
The Sharp EL-W516TBSL will do way more than is expected of a scientific calculator. It has many advanced features that would be found on a graphing calculator costing over $100. On of our favorite features is that it can simplify radicals, fractions and any combination of the two. The Sharp EL-W516TBSL has plenty of features but its main setback is its usability. This calculator would not be great for a first calculator someone like a middle school student. It is more designed for an adult using a calculator at home or as a supplement for a student already in a higher level math class.
