TI-nspire CX II CAS Coming Soon
Texas Instruments (TI) released the original TI-nspire CX line of calculators way back in 2011. Since then, we haven’t seen any updates to the product line. But finally, here we are in 2019 and Texas Instruments has announced they will be releasing the TI-nspire CX II and TI-nspire CX II CAS.
TI-Nspire CX II CAS Release Date
TI did not originally give a specific release date but the TI-Nspire CX II CAS will be released and available on Amazon on July 15th, 2019.
What To Expect
Although it’s been about 8 years since TI updated their Nspire series of calculators, don’t expect any drastic changes. It looks like the main changes will be pretty basic. There will be a “modern, new look” (which apparently means the same look as the 2011 calculators, in a new color scheme). The new calculators will also be getting a slightly more clean software interface.
Along with the visual changes, there will be some light performance updates including a processor that is supposed to be 2.5x faster than the old one. In my opinion, the old processor was a bit too slow so this will defiantly be a welcome refresh. TI will also be adding some new functionality to the same baseline operating system. TI will be adding math functions such as a differential equation solver and an updated coding interface.
TI’s new calculators have already been reviewed for use on standardized tests. The non-CAS version will be usable on the SAT, PSAT, ACT and IB exams. And the CAS version will be allowed for use on the SAT, PSAT and IB exams (the IB exam requires the CAS to be disabled).
As soon as I can get my hands on a TI-Nspire CX II CAS I will be coming out with a full review of the calculator as well as a full comparison with the TI-Nspire CX CAS. So, make sure to stay tuned for that in the coming months.
